Living a Life with Purpose

Living a Life with Purpose

Living a Life With PurposeThere are more than 7 billion people currently living in this earth and it’s increasing day by day. Among this 7 billion people you are just another piece of blood and flesh. If thought rationally nothing will change even if you die just now unless you are a somekind of great person. Someone will fill your position and someone will do the job you have been doing. Within few years, even your loved one will start to forget you; they will learn to live without you (they have to).
So, rather than dragging yourself everyday from your bed, struggling so hard, doing things you hate to do and waiting to die, wouldn’t it be logical to die just now. What’s the point of living? Why are you here? Is it money, fame or huge house that you are running after? Remember, at the end nothing matters, your money will be useless, your fame can’t bring you back from death and people aren’t even going to bury you in that house you bought. You were born naked and die naked, it doesn’t matter whether you are a millionaire or poor, death is the common destination we all share.
So, you may ask, “What should I do in life?” But if I was to answer this question, then it makes no difference. You yourself have to find it, it’s within you and your heart already knows it. It differs for each individual. Some loves dancing, some loves sport, some writing, some painting, some drawing, some designing and so on. Wait a minute, but who don’t love to become a singer, a player, an artist, a high paid doctor or an engineer etc everyone loves it, Right! But in most cases it’s not singing, acting, playing or designing they love, most of the time it’s the money, fame or power they are after. You see, playing the game isn’t only about winning, it’s more about enjoying the each moments and giving the best you can. And at the end even if you lose atleast you enjoyed the game and perhaps become more better than the previous time.
Why follow passion?
You may ask, why should I live a purposeful life, why follow my passion? There are various reason to why you should follow it. From becoming the person you are capable of becoming, doing the things you think is a great work to living everyday to the full, waking up everyday with a passion with a drive. Or may be you are a spiritual person who wants to follow higher calling, life’s dharma or deeper meaning. GOD created you with a purpose to accomplish a task, the task only you are capable of doing. Throughout your whole life you will be given various guidance and opportunities to follow your purpose. And it’s your choice to either follow it or let it rust in your heart.
But let’s think like this, why not live a purposeful life, follow the passion, why not live your life doing what you love to do, why not make each day an exciting journey to learn something new, improve upon yourself, why not stretch your boundary, why not touch the life of as much people as you can, why not make your dream come true, why not bring the change you are capable of, why not become the person you are capable of becoming, why not?
Fear of Uncertainty:
But, major obstacle that comes in the way to pursue your passion is ‘Fear’. Fear of doing things no one supports us to do, fear of following our heart, fear of choosing different path, fear of failing, being wrong, fear of unknown. Society in which we are grown up says, study hard, go to college, get a degree, find a job, get married, raise a family, save some money and retire. Retire from what? Doing the work which you hate to do, which caused you headache, frustration and stress every single day of your life. Well most people will (or maybe they have to) follow the society but you don’t have to be like those people. Just ignore the fear, go for your dream.
Everybody wants their profit, schools colleges wants you to get enrolled, corporations and industries wants you to work for them, buy their products. It’s your choice either to listen to your heart or to masses.
By the way, getting a degree may not actually lead you to a good job. There was a time when most works used to be done by human hand and only few people used to attain higher education. But today most works are done by robots and machines, more and more people are getting college degree than ever but job market hasn’t increased as it should. There is a tough competition. The place you used to call safe zone isn’t safe anymore.
But for an optimist, there is more opportunity than has ever been. This is the age of Communication and Technology. Day by day world is becoming a smaller place, within seconds we can contact any person in the world in real time, within hours we can reach any corner of the world, we can plant the satellites in the space with the precision of fraction of seconds. A 15 years old can become a millionaire by selling apps, a Mom can run a successful YouTube channel about taking care of children, young artists can get new opportunities through YouTube videos. A photographer, traveler, cook, writer, computer geek, health expert or science enthusiast can earn a living through blogging. You can be your own boss. Middle aged man who lost his job can become an entrepreneur and thus create more jobs. All the information there has ever been is just next to your finger touch. You can become an expert in any field without even going to University. Technology has given so much power to each individual.
Finding the Purpose:
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” -Mark Twain
The main purpose of life is not about becoming rich, famous or powerful, it’s about improving, reaching our highest self, experiencing the life, doing things you think is a great work and serving the human kind, serving the world. There is a soul within each of us that wants to expand and love.
Purpose is not like a goal or target that can be achieved it’s something more like a direction which can never be achieved but can only be pursued. And generally, it’s not limited to space, time and practicality.
There is one common method most books recommend for finding life purpose that says grab a notebook and pen or text editor. Then brainstorm and write down everything that comes into your mind, just write and write. Then at somepoint your life purpose will pops out, you will realize when you find it and feel connected to it. Do like this until you are bored. If you don’t find it, come back later and try again and again until you find it.

My Purpose

(This is one of the pages of my diary, interesting fact is I got 85% (i.e. 85.5% in exact) in SLC perhaps it’s spooky Law of Attraction. Sometimes I wonder, I should have written 90%.)
About 3-4 years ago I had done same thing, I got my purpose as, “Supporting for welfare of animal along with being best I can be.” I love animals, their innocence and at that time I was extremely against torturing animals (Now also I am but not like that).
But with time it has evolved to become like this, “To live everyday to the fullest and to get better and better everyday in everyway. To help other to live better life and develop my nation.” It’s still evolving, sometimes I will deduct words from it, sometimes I will add.
My own story:
My own journey begun like this, I had a average childhood (perhaps a little difficult one), in early teenage year I was like every other teenage kid trying to master every skill I saw, I wasn’t popular and was shy and introvert. At around 15, I started reading a blog of Singaporean Blogger Celestine Chua, at one time I had saved all her pages in my mobile. At around 16, I started writing journal, I wrote a book Teenage Guidance so that I could guide other like me and just wanted to publish it, even without any profit in return, and at that time I didn’t had any intention of becoming a writer. But at the end I was unable to publish that, so with the suggestion of a brother Tilak Khadka, I published it in Google’s Blogger, I found the new world of blogging really interesting. Soon I joined Higher Secondary School in Science faculty, but I was unable to focus on my study, my grades weren’t good, some part of me had always wanted to learn new life skill, read books, become better, share the ideas, help other. So, here I am working in my blog, risking my career. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, let’s hope for better. But I believe even if things don’t work out, atleast I will learn many new ideas, skills and become more better than I used to be.
Perhaps I should be grateful for those low grades otherwise like my friends I will also have been pursuing some kind of engineering course. People have built new companies that they have been wanting to, once they are fired. And after years of being fired, being fired becomes the best thing that could happen to their life even though it felt terrible at the moment of being fired. It’s interesting looking at fact that there is very strong relation between college dropouts and successful people. But the real fact is, they were the one who were forced to seek the opportunity outside of academic field once they found it’s not leading them anywhere. While their counterparts were busy in getting college degree for getting good job, they were already doing job, moreover creating new jobs. But everyone who drops out of college will not be successful, most of them just get more worse. Few who becomes are the one who delivers continuous hard work and perseverance in the things they loves to do, the work they believed is a great work.
But you don’t necessarily have to be fired or fail in college to follow your passion. Neither you have to quit your job or college and turn your life upside down inorder to follow your passion. There is a concept I really like; Life is like an onion if you peel one layer of onion other will come, if you peel it again another shows up and if you keep peeling, at the end only the core of onion remains. Like this, currently you may love doing something which may change overtime but someday it will lead you to your true passion, that’s the core of your onion. It don’t necessarily have to be like opening a new company, starting a multi million project or something big that can create trouble to your family or parents. It can be something as small as writing that short story you have always wanted to, creating YouTube channel, starting a blog, joining that sport club, learning dance, meditation, programming, painting, photography, piano or something like that.
This quote by Steve Jobs supports the fact “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down and it has made all the difference in my life.”
Living a life with purpose, following a passion is not going to be easy. It’s hard but the inspiration and joy that comes while pursuing your purpose a passion will motivates you to keep going even in the time of great adversity. That’s why if you want to do something big or make your life meaningful, you have to do what you love and love what you do.
“Yeah, people say you have a lot of passion for what you’re doing, and it’s totally true and the reason is because it’s so hard that if you don’t any rational person would give up.
It’s really hard and you have to do it over a sustained period of time. So if you don’t love it, if you’re not having fun doing it, if you don’t really love it, you’re going to give up.
And that’s what happens to most people, actually.
If you really look at the ones that ended up being successful in the eyes of society, and the ones who didn’t, often times it’s the ones that are successful love what they did so they could persevere, you know, when it got really tough.
And the ones that didn’t love it, quit. Because they’re sane, right? Who would want to put up with this stuff if you don’t love it?
So it’s a lot of hard work and it’s a lot of worrying constantly and, if you don’t love it, you’re gonna fail.
So, you gotta love it, you gotta have passion.” -Steve Jobs
